Pelosi Unplugged

September 20th, 2013 No comments

If you’re in need of a good laugh, head over to Politico for some prime Pelosi patter.

It’s chock full of great nuggets. I snickered at this:

Pelosi was sharply derisive about the scorn Republicans have for this president.

“You know why it is,” she said. “You know why it is. He’s brilliant, … he thinks in a strategic way in how to get something done … and he’s completely eloquent. That’s a package that they don’t like.”

But this brought on a full guffaw:

“He has been … open, practically apolitical, certainly nonpartisan, in terms of welcoming every idea and solution. I think that’s one of the reasons the Republicans want to take him down politically, because they know he is a nonpartisan president, and that’s something very hard for them to cope with.”

Thanks, Nancy. I needed that.

Notable Quotables #16

Advocates of minimum wage laws often give themselves credit for being more “compassionate” towards “the poor.” But they seldom bother to check what are the actual consequences of such laws…In the United States, the last year in which the black unemployment rate was lower than the white unemployment rate—1930—was also the last year when there was no federal minimum wage law.

Feeding the Fed

September 17th, 2013 No comments

The Treasury Department announced that,

The federal government raked in a record of approximately $2,472,542,000,000 in tax revenues through the first eleven months of fiscal 2013…

Did you catch that anywhere in the MSM? Neither did I. But that’s because in this—as in so many areas—the truth runs contrary to the chosen narrative.

Our government is not starving. It is, in fact, gorging itself on more of our tax dollars than ever…and it’s still not satisfied.

With record revenues, that $755 billion deficit accumulated over the same period isn’t the result of scarcity, but of statist gluttony. The Fed doesn’t need more of your money or mine—rich, poor, or middle class. What it needs is a diet.

LA Times: Insurers limiting doctors, hospitals in health insurance market

September 17th, 2013 No comments

The doctor can’t see you now.

Consumers may hear that a lot more often after getting health insurance under President Obama’s Affordable Care Act.

We already knew we couldn’t keep our insurance if we liked it. Heck, there are a lot of folks who won’t be able to keep their jobs—or have already lost them or had their hours cut.

Now we see we won’t get to keep our doctor, either…unless we can pony up for the pricier plans.

But, but, but Reidamalosi promised us we could, & that it would be affordable…

Surprised? You shouldn’t be. Conservatives predicted this before ObamaCare was rammed through Congress.
